What we test
Test types we perform on site
- Breath alcohol tests — conducted by a Breath Alcohol Technician using an evidential breath testing device, with the result printed at the point of collection and attached to the alcohol testing form.
- DOT alcohol testing — tests conducted under 49 CFR Part 40 procedures for FMCSA, FAA, FRA, FTA, PHMSA, and USCG‑regulated employers.
- Confirmation testing — when a screening result is 0.02 or higher, a confirmation test is required. We begin the required waiting period on site, give the employee the required instructions, and complete the confirmation test on an evidential device so you leave the visit with a documented result.
- Non‑DOT alcohol testing — company‑policy testing with your own cutoff and consequence structure.
- Reason for test — pre‑employment, random, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, return‑to‑duty, and follow‑up.
- Combined visits — pair alcohol testing with a drug panel, DNA collection, fingerprinting, or I‑9 verification in one appointment.
Why on‑site matters
A post‑accident alcohol test has a hard window. Under FMCSA rules, if the alcohol test is not administered within two hours the employer must document why, and after eight hours the employer must stop trying altogether. Sending an employee across Houston burns that window in traffic. We come to you.

Post‑accident and reasonable‑suspicion tests happen on night shift, on a Saturday, and on the Fourth of July. We answer after hours and dispatch to your site, because a compliance window that closes at 2 a.m. does not wait for business hours.
When to call us after hours
- Post‑accident — a DOT‑recordable accident on night shift or over a weekend, where the two‑hour clock is already running.
- Reasonable suspicion — a supervisor has made a documented observation and needs the employee tested before the shift ends.
- Shift‑change and overnight crews — scheduled testing timed to a 6 a.m. or 6 p.m. shift change so nobody comes in on their own time.
- Weekend and holiday plant work — turnarounds and shutdowns that run straight through the calendar.

A Breath Alcohol Technician arrives with an evidential breath testing device, sealed single‑use mouthpieces, and the required forms.
Screening test
The screening test runs on site, the result prints, and it is reviewed with the employee present and attached to the alcohol testing form.
Confirmation, if needed
Below the cutoff, the process ends there. At 0.02 or above, the required waiting period begins and the confirmation test is completed on site.

How fast are results?
The result prints at the point of collection, so you get an answer during the visit rather than waiting on a laboratory.
What happens if the screening result is 0.02 or higher?
A confirmation test is required. The waiting period begins at least 15 minutes after the screening test and the confirmation test should begin within 30 minutes of it. We start the waiting period on site, give the employee the required instructions, run the confirmation test on an evidential breath testing device, and attach the printed result and unique test number to the alcohol testing form.
Do you answer after hours?
Yes. Post‑accident and reasonable‑suspicion calls are taken outside business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. After‑hours dispatch is quoted before we roll.
Can you test a whole crew at once?
Yes. Group and shift‑wide testing is our most common workplace request — see the volume program on the drug testing page for how pricing scales.
What does the employee need to bring?
A government‑issued photo ID. The employee should avoid eating, drinking, or using tobacco immediately before the test.
Can alcohol testing be combined with a drug test?
Yes, and for post‑accident situations it usually should be. One visit can cover the alcohol test and the controlled substances collection, which keeps both DOT windows intact.
